Permanent Oil & Gas Job
3rd January

Geologists

Salary: negotiable
Location: Norway

As with the continued expansion of the oil industry, there is a growing demand for the unique qualities possessed by geologists trained in the development field. We currently have an opening for an experienced Geologist to work in one of our exciting international locations. We will require candidates to perform key reservoir characterization studies and modeling the operated assets, as well as continually interacting with the Well Planning team to successfully advise well placement in both active and continuous development drilling programs.

The candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and responsible for advancing characterization and predictive tools, with potential for exposure to a wide range of reservoir characterization challenges including:
•Characterization of reservoir scale structural heterogeneity,
• Continued water injection and production, and the impacts on fluid flow with time;
• Assessment of reservoir compaction effects, integration of 3D and 4D seismic data,
• Evaluation of reservoir characterization elements critical to assessing options for further EOR in the fields,
• Construction and maintenance of reservoir geomodels,
• Access to a substantial historical database of data from several hundred wells representing 40 yrs of development and production history.

Applicants must have obtained at least the minimum of a MSc in a Geoscience related discipline, and have had extensive hands on development geology and reservoir characterization experience.

Role specific tasks will include:

• Identification, recommend and deliver systematic studies to advance our understanding of the reservoir characteristics of the operated fields.
• Perform fracture characterization studies, including image log interpretation and analysis, to improve our predictions of fracture controls on permeability.
• Perpetuate existing technical products designed to assess predictive accuracy of current characterization, and to update existing characterizations based on new static and dynamic information
• Interface with reservoir engineers, petrophysicists and geophysicists in updating the reservoir characterization to improve the history match of the reservoir flow models
• Provide guidance on reservoir uncertainties and risks relevant to assessment of development well locations
• Compile post-audit data on development well results in comparison to pre-drill prediction
Specific skills and expertise preferably in chalk reservoirs assessing structural heterogeneity at the reservoir scale, and impact on fluid flow
• Track record of integrating large data sets and diverse data types (well, production, seismic) to derive reservoir characterization products
• Experience assessing risk and uncertainty for development well locations and programs
• Familiarity with Petrel and Landmark application suites for subsurface workflows
